BBB – A Trusted Consumer Advocate

According to the Better Business Bureau, the BBB is the authority on trust in the marketplace. The BBB sets and upholds high standards for ethical marketplace behavior and the BBB is also a significant distributor of consumer and business education information and tips and alerts about marketplace scams.  The BBB also offers dispute resolution programs for consumers and businesses when there is difference in viewpoints. These high and lofty ideals resonate strongly with consumers across the nation.

In January 2012, the BBB release the 2011 statistics of consumer inquiries. It showed that requests for BBB Business Reviews increased in 2011 by 35 percent over 2010, up to 2.06 million inquires. From those statistics alone, we see the trend of consumers to trust the BBB as an authority on the business market. American Exteriors LLC works closely with homeowners to develop the needs of the community. When polled, over 58 percent of homeowners indicated that a good rating from the BBB is an important factor in determining which business to work with. For the home remodeling industry, that speaks volumes. /p>

As a matter of fact, according to the BBB, the number 1 industry which receives the most inquiries is Home Construction / Remodeling Contractors with a staggering 139,280 inquiries. To put it into perspective, that is over 40,000 more inquiries than the number 2 industry of roofing and guttering contractors.

It is interesting to note that although the BBB may utilize the word “Bureau” in its business title, it is not a government entity. As a matter of fact the BBB is a private corporation which was established in 1912. For not being government related, why do people trust the BBB so strongly? Could it be due to the fact that the BBB, instead of being merely a complaints forum, focuses on the information of local business practices? Could it be the reputation of the BBB to act as an arbitrator to settle disputes between consumers and businesses? Or could it just be the simplistic form of reporting a company’s credibility using an A – F standard many are familiar with?

Regardless of what the answer is, one thing that none can deny is the power of the BBB to influence the decision of the consumer. American Exteriors LLC has long been a member of the BBB in good standing. As a matter of fact, according to the Better Business Bureau website, American Exteriors LLC, as of February 27, 2012, has a rating of A+. Our commitment to customer satisfaction is reflected in our standing with the Better Business Bureau. We appreciate the service of the BBB for the community and invite you to look us up on the BBB.
